As part of a proposal for a city-owned site at Cummins Highway and Regis Road in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood, Studio NDP designed a 99-student day care as part of a larger mixed use project for the Immigrant and Family Services Institute. The design of the daycare, which accommodates children from infants through Pre-K, is characterized by easy flow between spaces and strong connections to the outside. Outdoor play spaces are designed to serve the needs of a range of ages, with the ability to connect and separate baby and toddler spaces from the larger communal play yard. Having room to come together but also to observe or process at one’s own pace are critical drivers shaping our approach.
